After careful consideration, The Institute on the Common Good at RegisUniversity has decided to take our Democracy Lab Program offline for the near future. We have received a considerable amount of input over the past few years, and recognize that to ensure we maintain high quality standards in the curriculum and facilitation; we would need to invest additional monies and time. With the current economic conditions, we simply are unable to ensure adequate resources for the maintenance of excellent support and for up to date technology and innovative practices. We thank you for your support and interest in the online courses. If you have any questions or comments, please direct them to Malia Crouse at mcrouse@regis.edu
Welcome to Democracy Lab!
Democracy Lab is an online learning experience that teaches students about dialogue and deliberation through an engaging discussion about a current issue. This online course allows students to connect with their peers from across the nation by dividing students from one class into multiple sections. In these sections students interact with each other, share personal experiences and work together to address a current issue of interest. Issues range from topics of race and ethnicity to health care; from the media to government policies. Professors can integrate Democracy Lab into their curriculum in multiple ways; either by focusing on the issue itself, or on the process of group work and collaboration. Thus Democracy Lab can become an integral part of classrooms across multiple disciplines. By participating in this online course, students get a real taste of democracy by working together with a diverse group of peers to address an issue that affects us all.
We offer both a Higher Education Program for universities and colleges as well as a newly released High School Program starting the Fall of 2009. The Higher Ed course is ten weeks long, while High School courses run for six weeks.
